Scientific management

The achievement of the milestones reported in the table 1.3.7 will be the main tool for monitoring and evaluating the progress of the work. The SC will perform the comparison between the achieved targets and pre-fixed milestones during the periodical project meetings, while the coordinator will monitor them every 3 months and contact the other partners by e-mail or phone. Problems in achieving the milestones will be discussed with the coordinator and, if necessary, with the whole SC. The project coordinator will summarize the results of the project in management reports as indicated in the table of pg.48. At the end of the project a final report will be prepared. The activities within the specific workpackages will be continuously monitored by the WP leaders who have also the responsibility of respecting the established deadlines and providing the coordinator all info and data necessary to report in time on the activities of the project. Other parameters will be employed to evaluate the impact of the scientific work carried out. Among the most meaningful tool for estimating the scientific quality of the target achieved there will be the number and impact factor of the joint publications, the number of organized events, participating scientists, written patents and involved industrial collaborators, PhD students and Post-docs.
