Brendan O'Neill
Brendan O’Neill graduated from University College Galway in 1975 with an honours B.Sc. in Experimental Physics. He joined Analog Devices, Limerick as a graduate engineer in 1976. During the time at Analog he worked on all aspects of fabrication technology, mainly diffusion, implantation and thin films. At the time of leaving Analog Devices he held the position of Senior Process Engineer. In 1983 he joined the NMRC as Process Manager of the Silicon Fabrication Laboratory. During this period he worked mainly in the areas of CMOS development and Sensor technology, including RADFETs. In 1995 he was appointed as Operations Manager of the Silicon Fabrication Group, in 1999 he took on the position of Operations Director for all of the fabrication activities at NMRC (now Tyndall National Institute). These include: Silicon, Microsystems, Nanotechnology, Compound Semiconductors and Plating. He teaches courses in Silicon Technology to undergraduate and post-graduate students. He served as a committee member of the Irish Cleanroom Society, and is a member of the Programme Committee for Semicon Europe. His current research interests are the development of sensor and SOI technologies.
