The micro reactor group at the University of Hull is one of the leading international teams concerned with the design, fabrication and application of micro reactors in the fields of synthetic and analytical chemistry. The group (currently 20+ researchers) includes academic staff drawn from synthetic, analytical and physical chemistry, who have completed over 100 man years of research to establish the fundamental advantages that miniaturisation offers synthetic and measurement chemistry. Work to date has concentrated on exploiting electrically and hydrodynamically driven flow in glass-based devices in which the control of a chemical process is intrinsically linked to the design and fabrication of the micro reactor. The group itself is part of the leading science department (chemistry) within the University of Hull and has received a rolling program of investment as part of the University’s strategic development. The department has experience in being partners in (and leading) EU projects and the University’s Research and Enterprise Office provides infrastructure and support for management of projects and ancillary IPR issues etc..
